The Farley Foundation was established in 2001 and is administered by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA).  The foundation honors the human-animal bond and seeks to help those who benefit most from pet ownership.

The Farley Foundation assists seniors and disabled persons on limited incomes with the necessary treatment of their pets.   In 2007, the foundation expanded it’s criteria to assist the pets of women at risk of abuse and their children who are participating in the OVMA’s SafePet Program.

Donations from the veterinary community in Ontario, corporate sponsors and pet owners around the world allow the Farley Foundation to help hundreds of people and pets each year.  The foundation has just recently passed the $1 million mark in monies paid out in assistance.

Each year, Markham Veterinary Clinic organizes fundraising activities and events that help raise money for the Farley Foundation.  In past years, these events have included car rallies, bake sales, book sales, colouring contests, pet contests, rummage sales, pet portraits, raffles and in 2009, a fright house!  This year is no exception!
